Randy Smith
After over a decade as a successful entrepreneur in the hospitality space, Randy was ready for a fresh challenge and returned to his finance roots while still utilizing his understanding of food & beverage operations by working with the premiere private equity firm in the state to acquire a collection of scalable concepts and start a hospitality division for the firm.

It was through this return to his roots in finance that he met Dr. John Sperling, founder of the Apollo Group (University of Phoenix) who was looking to start a venture fund of his own. Randy joined the ranks of Moral Compass Venture Fund 1 (“the Fund”) in early 2010 which began his deep dive into the nascent medical marijuana industry.

Randy became one of the co-founders of one of the Fund’s portfolio companies that was moved from Oakland, CA to Phoenix, AZ and renamed 4Front Advisors — www.4front-advisors.com — which grew into one of the leading companies in the marijuana space covering operational consulting, capital formation, media content and due diligence services.

After guiding 4Front from a start-up to one of the shining stars of the industry, Randy decided it was time to move from the consulting side to the operating side of this industry which culminated in another successful start-up venture.

Randy originally stewarded this investment through its start-up phase as the Founder & CEO of The Pharm, LLC. The Pharm closed on its initial capital round in June of 2016 and immediately began conversion of the Company’s seven (7) acre, high efficiency, Dutch glass greenhouse that sits atop a geo-thermal well. The Pharm has been in production with its first retail brand Sunday Goods — www.sundaygoods.com — since April 2017. The Pharm has been able to attract top talent from other industries to join the Company and accept the mission of transforming the cannabis space with the help of top agencies like Gin Lane (now Pattern) for branding and e-commerce and Partners & Spade / Mythology for retail design. Randy successfully raised $47 million to propel The Pharm and Sunday Goods into a leadership position in the Arizona market with a valuation in excess of $300 million dollars. Randy is the founder and majority owner of the Company.

Randy was recently featured in Forbes magazine: Forbes Interview
